I CAN run! Also, Thank You.
Wow, you gals are awesome. (Gals + my daddy-o, who gave his advice over the phone rather than commenting here.) Thank you so much for all the tips; I am now a runner!
You were right, I did just need to push myself a bit more and the endorphins kicked in and I can now run 30+ minutes without stopping, walking, or even getting tired.
In fact, I only stop because I need to go inside and feed my kids and attend to other motherly duties. It’s getting lighter later here, so leaving earlier isn’t a great option as most of the risk-taking, teenage-invincibility has finally left me, and I’m kind of a ‘fraidy-cat about going out by myself in the dark. Going at night isn’t a great option for the same reason, and who wants to exercise (and shower/get ready for the day all over again) in the middle of the day?
I am cutting it down to three times a week though, and I know Matt would be willing to get the girls their breakfast. For that matter, they can get their own breakfast, but I guess I just want them to have one of us enjoying the meal with them.
We’ll work something out. Maybe I’ll be able to get an hour’s worth of exercise in three days a week. Wouldn’t that be something? I’m finally understanding what these people are talking about, who say they can’t wait to exercise, their bodies in fact crave it. I mean, I’m not totally there, but I have hope now at least!

Congratulations! You did that fast too, you really are running material.

Don’t know how safe * is, but in todays world I am concerned about dark running. Can you encourage a partner. I don’t need another Suz situation. I love my family so much. Know your area, know the residents. Be aware!

Yay! I sure miss it. Just don’t be dumb like your cousin and run through pain. If it hurts, don’t do it! I did and now I have to wait months for my shins to heal before I can run again. I stinks. Just think of all the extra cookies you can eat now!;)

I’d love to have a partner. I need to meet some more neighbors I guess. Most of the one’s we’ve met have lived here since this neighborhood was built–in the 60’s–so I imagine they’re probably not up for running. (Though at my pace, they could probably keep up just fine!)
Natalie, yes, all the extra cookies. That’s the real reason I’m doing this! ;)

Did you read Rachel’s blog about her running experience? I am jealous of yours.
