Perfection In a Day

I want to have a clean house. I want to have a somewhat organized day so I feel like I am accomplishing something. And I like to make lists.

Every once in a while, I get all motivated, sit down and write up a new plan. A schedule–not too rigid, and with plenty of room for play and spontaneity, but some sort of flexible routine for each day–so I’m not wasting away in my pajamas until 15 minutes before we have to be somewhere. I blogged one once before, and I just made a new one again.

My problem is, I expect to make this list one night and then wake up the next morning ready and able to follow it perfectly. When this doesn’t happen, I get incredibly discouraged and the whole day–not to mention schedule–goes to pot.

I know I need to discipline myself, but I also need to make room for minor glitches: for someone to have a hard morning, for a late night that didn’t allow for much cleaning, for a baby who needs to nurse when I’m “supposed to” be going for my run. I need to be able to accept (even plan for) these little things as a normal part of life, and adapt my schedule to suit.

Most of all, I need to not give it all up when I can’t attain perfection all in one day.

ME Too! (sometimes I add completed items to my to-do list, just to make me feel better about life)

Jeff, Theresa and Ben were here Mon to today early. They were not idle a minute, Got rid of a lot of stuff and have inspired me to continue downloading junk and junque. Also have several unfinished projects to work on. Just keep on keeping on.

One time my mom told us in an email how she sat down at the end of the day and wrote out a have-done list. She was amazed at everything she’d done, and a lot of it wasn’t “scheduled.”

Haha, that’s great Nat2. Tell your mom I wanna know how to subscribe to her emails. She sounds very wise.
