Mary Poppins Prompter
I’m putting Jade (barely 3) to bed and started singing that song from Mary Poppins, but I don’t remember past the first line.
Me, singing: Stay awake, don’t close your eyes. La la la la la la.
Jade, whispering: You’re not sleepy.
Me: You’re not sleepy, la la la.
Jade: As you seem.
Me: As you seem. Stay awake, don’t close your eyes.
Jade, still whispering: And then she goes out.
Me, whispering back: So do you want me to go out?
Jade, suddenly not whispering and turning her face into a slight scold: No, she doesn’t tell them.
Right. So I just smiled at her for a minute and then quietly slipped out. She’s snoozing peacefully now.
