35 Weeks
You’re just dying for another pregnancy update, I know. You’ve missed hearing all about the heartburn and varicose veins and the baby who never. stops. moving–I swear she must have forty-seven legs.
I’m so going to acquiesce your wishes.
I’ve succumbed yet again to the glorious Prilosec OTC for the first. I’ve taken it near the end of every pregnancy. No matter how much I want to avoid introducing drugs into the teeny little precious body growing within me, I’m not tough and I’m not a martyr, and it really is unbearable and constant–all day long. Nothing else works, and even with this stuff–a pill you take once a day for 14 days and then supposedly don’t get heartburn for months–I still require Tums. It just makes it mild enough that the Tums actually do something.
Varicose veins. I’ve already gone through one pair of compression stockings. I’ve been wearing them with holes in the heel (okay, so one is completely without a foot–but I just wear it on the side that isn’t really affected) for weeks because I keep finding other things I’d rather spend $20 on. I’m also taking this stuff, recommended by my midwife.
Otherwise, yes, this baby still moves A LOT, and the contractions are coming very regularly–to the point that people who don’t know my labor history get pretty frantic being in the room with me and watching my belly tighten intensely every few minutes. But they’re actually not as strong as they were the last two pregnancies by this time, and I’m still getting to sleep much of the night, so no worries. Labor is not eminent.
Good thing, too, because I still have lots to do. Am interviewing a pediatrician this morning. Need to re-dye (with koolaid) the fabric for wool diaper wraps. And sew them up. Want to make a second diaper bag out of extra fabric. Made new sling, and a doll sling for Jade out of the same fabric. Am practicing my Hypnobirthing each night as I snuggle Jade to sleep. Found friend who can help with the girls during the birth, in case Matt’s mom is working. What else?

I know, I DO look small, it is so weird. I definitely don’t FEEL that small! But I was looking at pictures of me at this point last time and I was definitely bigger. It must be the way I’m carrying her this time, I guess.
